Hi everyone. It's Charlie here. I like to consider myself the most spoilt Springer in the UK. I want to be famous and model (and test food for) Skinners or Arden Grange, but until I make my break there I may aswell get my face on the scene by writing this blog instead. I thought I'd write about 'how to please the crowds at demos'. It is all about pleasing the crowd, and if that means that you have to have selective hearing when it comes to your humans commands then that is a sacrifice you may have to make.
I find that things that really get the crowd going include doing every obstacle except the one your human is yelling, going into the tunnel as many times as you possibly can before your human carries you off the course and my personal fave - running into the crowd so that my grandad can take a really good photo of me which I can possibly use for my modelling portfolio. Shep is telling me that I have to be serious now, so here are our top tips...
1. Don't be scared to do a demo! Whatever you can and can't do, just give it a go! Shep's first demo was just 4 jumps and an A frame!
2. Get to a demo early to help set up, and help to tidy away afterwards. This makes it much easier for everypawdy.
3. Remember to wear your Druac teeshirt or jumper - we are proud of our club!
4. Have fun! If your human forgets the course it doesn't matter! Just keep smiling and running - the crowd doesn't care!
5. Encourage people to 'have a go' with their dogs after the demo - the more people who join our club the better
6. Don't attempt any equipment you aren't comfortable with - it risks injury and just isn't worth it. I dislocated my little toe playing catch the other day so I really do know what pain you may go through!
7. Do the biggest poo possible and make your human clean it up - and remind them not to attach it to your windscreen wiper and forget about it like my human did!
8. Remind humans not to tie you up on your own if they need to go somewhere - ask a friend to keep an eye on you.
9. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing - if you see fox poo roll in it! Your humans are guaranteed to love it!
10. Most importantly HAVE FUN!
That's all from me for now. I'm off to dig a hole in the garden and then get bathed by mom. My favourite part of this will be having my ears blow dried!!
